I am developing an android application that needs to hide or temporarily disable all soft keys (Home, back, recents, search) and is compatible with Jelly Bean. There is another program on the market that does this called toddler lock (without root). The navigation bar needs to be disabled, but I still need to be able to interact with the screen without it reappearing. When I close my application the navigation bar needs to reappear.
I would prefer that the code does not require root, but if that is the only way - it is acceptable.
1. Does this method require rooting the device?
2. What android API level does it require?
3. Does it implement the project objective?
