Project Description:
Required skills: SCALA, LiftWeb framework, Akka remote actors, Memcached, Big Data, CASSANDRA, SVN, OOP Javascript, LESS, CSS with media queries, CSS Responsive Design, Ant/Maven, Mobile frameworks - Jquery Mobile, Sencha Touch.
This project is a large social networking sports site.
The site needs to have a highly scalable architecture, built with Hadoop and Lift/Web, remote Actors from AKKA or an alternate solution which will provide for a highly modularized, scalable multi-tiered architecture. So familiarity and experience with highly scalable projects built on modern day technologies and experience with Big Data is a must.
On the front end, the site design should be lightweight, streamlined and themable. The build should utilize "responsive design" principles as the project ultimately will need to support various screen sizes - from mobile to desktop - using css media queries and other techniques.
The design should be relying on bitmaps as little as possible and utilize the principles of lightweight vector shapes where possible.
The site will also feature a iphone/android mobile application view which would be built using sencha touch 2 framework.
When replying, please include your experience with highly scalable projects, Scala/Lift/Akka, Cassandra and MongoDB,
The design phase of the project should complete in two-three weeks and I will have the comps available for review.
One of the requirements would be to make Scala/Lift play work with HBase for persistence by either writing a Record implementation for HBase or coming up with another workaround. If you have experience in scaling a MongoDB, this can be a consideration as well.
