Contest Brief

Mama Green is a new medical cannabis company incorporated in South Africa. We are in the process of obtaining our cultivation license, whereby we will produce high quality medical grade cannabis for the pharmaceutical export market as well as for the domestic South African market . We would like to start building the brand, to start we will need a logo design. If we are happy with the work produced by said designer, there will be an opportunity for more design work in terms of packaging design, website design as well as other creative projects.

Our vision is to be the number one medicinal cannabis company in Africa whereby our stakeholders can trust in our ability to produce high quality, safe and lab tested cannabis. We seek to be a significant value adding and innovative company in the Medical Cannabis market across Africa and beyond. Pending our license approval, Mama Green would like to start introducing our own CBD products into the South African market in order to start building the brand. For the time being we will start importing medical grade CBD oil from abroad and start manufacturing and bottling our own products and creams. The products we would like to start with are topical face creams, body lotions and balms etc. The Mama Green logo needs to be adaptable to these products and will be used on business cards, stickers, products. In essence this logo needs to be our corporate identity.

Mama Green is positioned as a proudly South African Medical Cannabis brand. The look and feel of the logo should be;
- high end
- Clean, organic and raw
- Simple yet Sophisticated
- Minimalistic
- Clinical

As a proudly South African brand, we would be interested in exploring the incorporation of african textiles into the logo, but as simple as possible. We do not want an art piece, but rather a minimalistic design of an organic shape or illustration. We would also like to explore the avenues of just using the name as the logo. Thus some interesting fonts or minimalistic ways of writing Mama Green or written as MaMa Green will be considered. Creativity with a strong sense of professionalism is what will be sought after. It is also possible to play around with the letters MG as just the logo which will represent Mama Green. Another possible idea to play around with is incorporating a motherly figure as the central point of the logo, but this again needs to be simplified in the sense that it must simply be the outline of a woman or even just the stencil outline. There needs to be a fine line drawn between how creative this logo will look, while still looking clinical.

Our target market will be males and females that are interested in natural holistic health products, those that are seeking natural ways of relieving physical pain or mental stress. They will be middle to high income earning customers who are willing to pay a premium price for a high quality product. Thus the logo has to represent the standard of quality that our products will adhere to.
