Contest Brief

Background
OneFTE was a web-comic published daily for a couple of years circa 2010 to very moderate acclaim. It was targeted at the corporate worker and was most popular with the 'service' departments (IT, HR, Finance). After creating about 800 odd comics, the author (me) got tired and busy and there were no new comics. The website (http://onefte.com) broke, and it was never fixed.

The Comic
While the 'look and feel' of the comics evolved over time, the 'art' was always very basic, and was based on a small number of 'scenes'. A Google image search for "onefte" will result in a broad selection of how it looked over time. A couple of examples of the final 'look and feel' are attached.

Overall Objective
By 1st January, 2020, the objective is to have the author's (my) favourite comics re-designed/re-written (about 150-200 in total) republished on the web. It is not clear yet whether there will be any ongoing development of comics after that, but, who knows? Maybe ...

Competition Objective
=== The objective of this competition is to find an art partner to initially draw one comic (this competition) based on the attached Example Comic ===.

After the competition, the intent (not guaranteed) is to employ the winner (on an hourly basis, still through Freelancer) to redo the rest of the 'scenes' (there's about 50).

What I'm looking for (what will win this competition):
1. A new 'look & feel' for OneFTE, that:
i. is NOT exactly the same as the old one;
ii. would appeal to the target audience (see Background);
iii. Colour OR Black & White (whatever you think works); and
iv. Using a font that I can legally use in future comics (doesn't have to be free); and
2. A willingness to take on additional work if required (for additional payments)

That's all! Good luck!

    Apologies for the delay, I've been travelling and working and it's been hard to get the time to respond and choose appropriately. I will absolutely be awarding, likely - nay, definitely - this weekend at the latest.

    Hi - not meaning to be pushy and perfectly understand the intended outcome to produce 50 strips post contest never guaranteed - nevertheless - in order to be available to undertake such work (as implied by entering) should it be on-going we do kind of need to shovel other clients around in order to be available. The process here appears to have stalled somewhat - fully understand if you're busy - but like I say, we're all working joe's. Some clue as to what's afoot - or not - be really appreciated. Currently the job just looks like its going to auto-pay. if it isn't - please - do drop us all a line, let us know you have a pulse. Cheers and thanks for the ratings if you don't - know we shall always remember you (fondly) as that really hairy guy who just upped and ghosted on us. Know that love cures everything, except Chlamydia. Otherwise, hire one of us. M x

    Hi - you're marking a lot of 5's, which kind of says "you've found your cartoonists" - can you give me an 18 page dissertation on why it's worth the punt putting in for this, given it looks like the jobs sorted. I mean, are you staying open to the bitter end or is this more or less over with as we spake. I used the word spake there, deliberately. I like it. Spake. There, I said it again. Spake. It makes me happy....

      I'm of the PowerPoint generation so I've never written 18 pages on anything. I'm giving 5's for the front runners so far, but I gave the community 21 days to submit, and 21 days the community shall have, my good Sir. Thus, I have spaken.

      No! Only I can spake. You - you have to get your own verbs. Bad human! Bad! Full run it is, good to know. I'll be sure to disappoint you early next week, then. Till then.... get your own verbs.
