Overview I am currently developing a site for a client which requires an upload folder outside two wordpress installations to include document indexing. There are several open source solutions such as Lucene, Solr, Swish-E, Glimpse, FreeWAIS, Google and Yahoo search APIs. The two wordpress installations share one DB. Deliverables The client will be adding files via the media library. The media library and DB will need to be modified to include tags, category, author and event. The search would search WP DB and the Upload folder contents using a document indexing method. I want the script to search the respective database and return results based upon number of matching words in the respective fields, the search should then order by relevancy. The search form (and engine) should allow the user to declare if they want to search any words, all words, or exact phrase and to whether to be case sensitive or case insensitive.
