We are looking for an experienced GIS and remote sensing specialist to generate a high-quality topographic map from LiDAR data. The freelancer should be able to process the point cloud data, create digital elevation models (DEM/DTM), and generate accurate contour lines. Please provide examples of your previous topographic mapping projects.

I’ll provide raw LiDAR point-clouds and need you to turn them into presentation-ready topographic products—fast and flawless. Your workflow will start in Global Mapper (your stated preference) to import and classify the clouds, then continue through DEM generation, contour extraction, hillshade creation, and optional 3-D scene building. I review spot elevations against ground-control before sign-off, so accuracy down to the decimetre is essential. I need a complete hydraulic study carried out in HEC-RAS to demonstrate that my proposed development site actually sits in Flood Zone 3a rather than 3b, as required for a UK planning submission to Surrey Heath Borough Council. Once the model verifies the 3a classification I also need you to prepare the associated NPPF Exception Test and map a safe dry-access route to public highway standard. I can supply you with several decades of historical flood records together with the hydrological series (stage, discharge and rainfall) that fed those events. What I do not yet have—and may need you to source or recommend—is the most suitable terrain surface for hydraulic computations.
