There are numerous software available to aid in the design of a logo, usually using a template to produce a professional looking design. While some symbols and labels are very well-known (such as those used as warning signs, or to indicate recyclable packaging) a brand will aim for a logo that is just as well-known, but for the quality of their products. This is particularly true for designer brands, where the logo is featured on the products themselves.
Important components of label design are memorability, originality and color. The label needs to be eye-catching, and often have an aim to represent the type of product or business that they are representing. High-end brands will often use a logo that is quite simplistic, such as Chanel or Gucci. As logos and labels can be protected legally through intellectual property organizations. These usually don’t refer to the color, but to the design itself, disallowing the use of a stolen logo with merely different coloring.
