Hi Daniel C., Last week I finished a near‑identical set of 3 rolled‑steel parts from photos + hand dims, so I’m confident I can handle this really well. i would like to know the below. - Which exact steel grade and any heat‑treat or coating do you want, and what surface finish (Ra) on critical faces? - Should I use ASME Y14.5 GD&T with a defined datum scheme and ISO 2768 general tolerances, and what thread spec (UNC/UNF or metric) should I follow? I think we should. - Deliver STEP AP242 with embedded PMI so the shop sees callouts directly in the model, plus a simple PDF detail sheet for clarity. - Standardize edge breaks (e.g., 0.5 mm chamfer/radius) and spotface depths to prevent shop guesswork and rework. Lets follow a plan like this. 1) I recieve the NDA, photos, and hand‑measure sheet; I confirm any missing or ambiguous dims and agree on datums. 2) I rebuild precise 3D models with true rolling radii and any needed bend allowance/K‑factor; I keep features machinist‑friendly. 3) I add full GD&T, hole/slot specs, threads, surface notes, and material callouts; I prepare clean 2D detail sheets. 4) I run a quick tolerance/fit sanity check, export STEP (AP214 + AP242 w/PMI) and PDFs, and iterate once to match your check exactly. May I know if you are the project owner or part of the direct client team, because I usually work directly with the customer and dont engage through agents, brokers, or middle parties.
