Custom Wood Headbed With Shelves

The project centres on crafting a bespoke wooden headboard that spans the width of my bed and functions as both a counter and a storage unit. I want the storage to be open shelves only, integrated cleanly into the design so it still reads as one cohesive piece of furniture. Key points to keep in mind • Material: solid wood (species can be discussed based on grain pattern and budget). • Storage: fixed or adjustable open shelves—no drawers or cabinet doors—able to hold books, phone chargers, and small décor items. • Purpose: the top surface should double as a slim counter for a lamp and nightly essentials without adding too much bulk. • Finish: smooth, durable clear coat that brings out the natural timber character and can be wiped clean easily. • Fit: dimensions must align perfectly with my existing bed frame; I will provide exact measurements and photos once we start. Deliverables 1. Sketch or 3D rendering for approval before fabrication. 2. Fully fabricated, sanded, and finished headboard ready for installation. 3. Basic mounting hardware and easy-to-follow installation instructions. Acceptance criteria • Shelving layout matches the approved drawing. • All edges are smoothly finished, no splinters or rough spots. • Final piece installs flush against the wall and sits level without additional shimming.
