ASP.NET Web Application - C#.NET - View Thumbnails

We require a ASP.Net application to allow users to enter a search query into a text field and process the results of the search which may contain an image, pdf, office documents etc. - and display the “Document Results” in a list format with thumbnail for each results. End-users can also download documents in their original format. The query will simply call a third party service which has already been written and simply returns the results. The Documents it returns conforms to the following interface (below are three different type of documents that could be returned): Document Title Document Extension Id Author Description Document Byte Code. This is not populated as part of the third party API. - Property Report PDF 12124432 Joe Bloggs Property Images of construction site. the original pdf document <Generated thumbnail of pdf first page would be inserted here> - Legal Document DOC 4564654 John Doe Legal report of constitution the original word document <Generated thumbnail of word documents first page inserted here> - Photo of flower JPG 987987654 Al Doe The bird of paradise the original jpg document <Generated thumbnail of jpg document> We also require functionality to extract EXIF (Exchangeable Image File) data for images. We would prefer the user to take advantage of our Devexpress library as we are licensed for this. DevExpress has list box controls and many others which offer several more features out of the box when compared to stock ASP.NET controls that come with the ASP.NET - > refer to [login to view URL] The main part of the work is the thumbnail generation which will take a document as input and generate a thumbnail. Once all documents results have a generated thumbnail then they can be displayed in a list view in the web page as per table above. We have done a few investigations on thumbnail conversion and have come up with the open source library GFLAx found here [login to view URL] This only handles coversion of image type formats including pdf. Refer to [login to view URL] for all formats handled. We would also like to handle displaying a thumbnail of the first page of a word document, or any office document but not sure what api’s there are to provide this functionality. So would like to hear what is available from freelancers that have already worked on such projects. The microsoft office conversion would be a second part to this project, and should not be quoted for as part of this job. Assumptions: The third party service which takes the keyword query and returns the “Result” is already written.
