We have an asp.net web-based application using an MSSQL database, and we need an additional editing screen.
The web application is based on a VFP desktop application that evolved over many years to include several screens to edit data in a particular manner. Attached is a shot of a VFP screen that allows editing multiple records simultaneously. We need to duplicate this in our asp.net web app.
The VFP screen contains approximately 500 lines of code, and uses class objects with about another 200 lines. It is an application that sums records from 2 tables, showing daily totals for each day in a given month. Users are able to change the values for any given day, or enter a value on a day with zero records, and save new or changed records for each day they have modified.
In the screen shot, the 'cash', 'check', and 'card' fields are editable, the 'total' field is a sum of those three and is not editable. The user can change multiple fields and as they change each field, the text color changes to red to indicate a changed value that has not been saved. When they click save, the changed value is compared to the original value, the difference is calculated and a new record is saved in 2 tables for each field that has been updated.
In addition, the user can quickly view the sub-total of several fields by right-clicking on individual fields, and the sub total is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Other than the general structure of the Select statements, none of the VFP code will be of much use for translation to asp.net, but if you understand VFP it will make it that much easier for you to understand what we are doing.
Good day! We have explored the attached shot. There are no difficulties to complete this work at first sight. If you are interested in our collaboration, please, contact us in the PM for more details. Thank you.
Hello!
Checked the VFP Screenshot of the Desktop Application Version... and we are competent enough to handle this, we've been doing n-Tier Application Designing and Web based interactive applications in AJAX in ASP.NET(C#) for some years now, and I'd request you to check the Personal Message Board for some details.
regards,
neelanjan.
Okay, lets do this puppy :)
Will you provide the VFP code and access to the test db to try it out?
Two more little question, ASP.NET 1.1, 2.0, 3.5? AJAX can be used?
Other than that, I need no more and we can have this up and running soon :)
See ya soon!
