Just a note to project posters looking for software development and technical expertice. The old saying still applies -- You will get what you pay for. You will only be able to arbiterage the differential between 3rd world economies and your own country's professionals needs for so long. They will get expensive, and they will be remote, and there will be none of us left here to REALLY solve your problems and respond to your needs. Why not work with a US or Western European professional to manage your off-shore freelance projects. We can make sure that your app is well specified and promptly delivered with quality. Who ever heard of a quality website for #100.00? You have to be kidding...

Located in Turkey...but this doesnt mean we are not good in the job we do. From other side...if you guys check some of the most complicated projects posted here, you will notice that this projects are send by US and West European companies and individuals who require the job to be done for a few $. Projects with good budgets are mostly posted by other (non US & WE companies).----- IDEA & SOLUTION ----- My idea is to build simple forum page (with no ads and other promotional content) where we can publish a few informational pages for "Project Owners". This pages can be informative pages only about what approx a project budged schould be (depend on requirements...example...OSC, Business website, community website ect.). This way people who are planning to post a project can arrange better and "right" budget for the projects. I am sure some of us can come together, build and publish this "informative website" (with no $ expections). I am going to post a project for that informative website...who want to join and help for that informative website is welcome to "place bid" :-)

i agree for the saying "you get for what you pay for", i normally charged my clients higher than our market price here in the third world, but i disagree on your beliefs that third world programmers cant deliver quality products. in fact i have more great reviews that some of you. so its actually depends on the talents and skills , and God im sure did not only gave gifts to americans and eauropians.

Sir, I agree with you, theres a lot programmer in GAF, working $100 for a "number one web site" but after they receive the money, they run away. And why the project poster always choose them, even they are already cheat with a people like that for many times. Weird? This is not about the americans, europanians and or other. This is about a jerk people in this market place. How to make them change their mind, that's the more important. And the last, why GAF still sit in there? not doing anything about this, just weird... Thank you.

I'd have to agree, HOWEVER I don't think this is limited to foreign programmers. In general, you get what you pay for. I've been asked a couple times to go in and repair some cheap work before. Not that it matters, no project owners are going to read this anyway. It's impossible for customers who require this kind of work to judge quality, therefore, they quite naturally go with whatever is cheap.

Dear Sir, I liked your project, I´m living at Brazil (3rd world) and I´d like to discuss your project with you. Please contact me. A summary of my resume you will see that I have strong knowledge at .NET (even 2.0), AJAX and SQL Server. I understand that this is the best way to receive what you need. So, I have gained a lot of experience at software development for the last 13 years. I know how to work with diagrams and models using UML, I can also do them. I´m a really good professional, hire me to do this job and you will receive at final milestone (project close up) a wonderful site with high quality and high security. I´m a specialist in Portals and I´m a business management with focus at CRM and BPM. Let´s start to work together and get SUCCESS at close up? Thanks, Alexandre

It really comes down to the old demand/supply story. If a project poster is offering a low amount on a certain project and service provider is willing to do such project for such amount then who can blame them? On the other hand if a service provider's cost of living is really low compared to someone living in the US or Western Europe why should he/she charged more than he/she thinks it's convenient? Now, if anybody thinks things should be kept local then don't use the internet to find/provide services, get a hold of your local yellow pages instead. The whole point of sites like this is so people from anywhere can find/provide services and pay/charge whatever they think it's convinient for them.

Agree! I'm new here and really puzzled about how to bid. Getting noticed among a long list of candidates for a $30-$100 job that should realistically cost $1,000 is almost impossible and I wonder if sellers really can tell the good from the bad - feedback comments can be forged via dummy bids and bidders. A few sellers mention inferior work from earlier contractors so it might be quite common. I also wonder if sellers can be serious about a rock-bottom budget and whether successful bidders immediately raise the price when they win a job? I'd welcome some reliable information from anyone who has figured out an effective approach, and maybe we buyers should create a forum of our own to share good strategies? Send me a PM if you are interested. Pay peanuts and you get monkeys,
