The purpose of this assignment is to give students an opportunity to assess a current Canadian population health issue and develop a health education plan/intervention for a target population around the health issue. Begin by clearly defining the health issue and the target population. A Canadian population health issue is a health issue that affects a fairly large population of Canadians. An example may be obesity in children or a health issue for an aggregate such as suicides in teenagers in a particular community. Supply current (last 5 years) Canadian epidemiological evidence such as the rates for the health issue for your target population along with the rate of increase (trends) for the health issue over the past fifteen years. This evidence must be from reputable sources such as peer reviewed journals and or Government of Canada websites such as The Public Health Agency of Canada.
The second part of the paper is the identification of an intervention plan for the target population. In the intervention, start with a clear documentation of the goal or what you hope will be achieved by the intervention. An example for a goal may be a 10% reduction in the number of teenage suicides over a 5 year time frame. Outline specific strategies (1-2) along with how the strategies will be evaluated.
Use of APA 6th edition (2010) that includes a cover page (to include the student’s Last Name, First Name, and Date of Submission) and reference page(s). Proper APA referencing is required.
• Type in 12 Font with 2.5 cm margins; papers should not exceed 10 pages, excluding the cover page and reference pages.
