I need a mobile app that will run on andriod phones and tablets.
Every x minutes (to be defined), it needs to post the users location (lat\long) to a rest based API that has already been written. The format of the post will be JSON.
The app needs to run in the background and not have to have focus.
It is to be used to track engineers out on the road and map locations to the jobs in a CRM system.

- gets location based on GPS and GSM services
- sends location immediately if it can contact server
- put results in a queue if no server connection and send them when it has the chance

1. I have done same work for flipkart quick app as well in which delivery boys location coordinate is sent on server in json using rest based API.
2. Steps which i will follow :
a) write an alarm receiver which will be triggered after each x mili seconds ( will be configurable). Once it is triggered it will start a background service which will sent the data to server.
will use Volley for API Protocol.
