Hello! I am a massive sports fan, specifically football, cricket and tennis. I follow American sports to a certain extent but would not consider myself to be an expert on them. Okay, well. Here I am, writing out my first ever "proposal", so don't be too hard on me. First off, I like to write -evidently- else I wouldn't be trying to land this gig. Secondly, I'm crazy about football, and have been, since times immemorial. I can't say much for other sports (though I'm not hesitant to try out different stuff), but I've been watching and following football religiously with my father for the longest time. Now, I hope this part gets your attention, and gives me some leverage over the others- I went to South Africa for the last World Cup, and I've had my tickets to Brazil booked for nearly a year now. I have plenty of time on my hands, and an idle mind, that needs to churn out something worthwhile. That's about all. Thank you for your (hopeful) consideration!

Hello, My name is Jack Maclean and I am a 20 year old student (political science) looking to supplement my studies and CV with real writing experience. I have previously undertaken a work placement at my local newspaper. My duties there involved everything from assisting reporters to gathering scores and results from local sports clubs to filing a match report for a national reserve league football match. I have also been selected as a reviewer for Three Weeks, a publication that runs throughout the Edinburgh International Festival. I am an avid viewer of sports, be it ice hockey, ski-jump, football, rugby, motorsport, downhill skiing, NFL - I'm a fan a sport. Being first and foremost a fan, I have strong opinions of my own and am not afraid to think or say something controversial if I think it is right. (though not to the point of alienating an entire readership!) Specifically, it is motorsport, ice hockey and football (mostly European) that I gravitate to most and have the strongest opinions on.
