Access data from two related SQL Server tables

1. Document how to create a method to access data from two related tables, each residing on its own separate database of a Microsoft SQL Server instance. The method could involve, for example: - the creation of a Windows 7 desktop application - the accessing a web server interfacing to the databases Among other fields, the child table has: - a date field and - a string field The method should: - work with the 2008 version of an SQL Server - present a table-like control acting as a view on the two tables - allow the defining of a time span consisting of two dates - allow the hiding of records outside the mentioned time span - allow the selection of multiple lines - allow the simultaneous global updating selection's two fields by the pressing of one button The table-like control could be, for instance, a C# DataGrid. The updating should: - set the date field to the current date - append the current date to the string field The access should be remote, concurrent and transactional. For example, from 2 workstations different than the machine hosting the SQL server. A Windows SBS 2008 Premium is available on my side. This includes IIS, SQL Server, SSMS etc. The tools involved in creating a possible desktop client application should be open source. For example, Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2013. C# is preferable to VB. 2. Provide the source code of the software and the database from point 1.
