Hello. I would love to do this for you! 5 reasons I'm perfect for the job: (1) You can see in my feedback that I've edited recipes before, and the employer was very happy -- as are all my employers. (2) I'm a native English-speaker (with a degree in English) who's fanatical about proper grammar and spelling. My Freelancer English test score of 100%, which is rare even among those from the U.S., proves that I can spot problems where others cannot. (3) My specialty is clear language. I know that "one cup almonds, chopped" and "one cup chopped almonds" can mean two different things. (4) Reading recipes is my hobby. I'm an avid cook and baker who reads recipes every day and has a collection of over 150 cookbooks (at last count!). The language of recipes is familiar to me. I have worked on several similar works for several publishers, including regional Belgian recipes (Dutch), a gastronomical guide (Dutch), and translating/subtitling of a French TV-series on gastronomy, and regularly translate (Dutch to English) for a large food company/exporter in the Netherlands.. I am fairly familiar with the standard French cuisine vocabulary, and have a reasonable knowledge of French wines. My weakest side: I'm not very familiar with US measurements used in cooking.

I have been reading at a college level since I was ten years old and have often picked up grammatical errors and misspellings in text books and instructional/technical sheets. I am quite familiar with traditional kitchen terminology and tools. Having grown up in a large home-schooled family, all of us were required to be moderately proficient at preparing food according to directions. I foresee this project as being a welcome addition to the world of cooking since international dishes are not typically extravagant in budget but provide ample nourishment and excellent taste variety. Hi, In addition to proofreading, editing and copywriting skills required, I am an avid cook and have almost eaten my way around the world so am pretty familiar with all the weird and wonderful ingredients of many international dishes. I have completed a few cooking courses in different countries so have hands on experience with different techniques as well as ingredients. I'm new to this site only discovering it today so not that familiar with the process yet, but although I had to 'bid' hours I'm pretty flexible. I can work to your requirements as I am a stay at home mum of only one baby (8 months). Although British (living in Australia) I am confident to use American English spelling if required.
