actionscript function to convert filename to date string

A simple function needed. I have a quantity of image files with the date built in to their naming convention. i.e. [login to view URL] includes the date 19th November 2011 I can output the filename to a dynamic text field in Flash CS3 but need a function to strip away the '[login to view URL]' and output the rest in the following date format: day + month + year (e.g. 19th November 2011) AS3 please if it goes smoothly there will be more work to follow
