Take the shapes of the 22 letters in the paleo Hebrew alphabet. Then, using vector graphics (SVG) or FontForge, modify the letters so they look like the Times New Roman font. They should look like the paleo-Hebrew found on the Meshe Stelae, but also like a printers type-face. You will be merging the "spirit" of the Times Roman typeface, with the paleo-Hebrew letterforms. When these letters are mingled with regular English letters of the same typeface, they should "feel" like they are from the same font family.

## Deliverables

MILESTONE 1:

There is an intermediate deliverable; a low resolution image in any reasonable format of the 22 letter forms. On approval of this image, you will go on to make the final deliverable.

The intermediate deliverable is a mockup, to get the correct size, shape, and orientation of the 22 letter forms. I expect interaction and back and forth during this phase.

FINAL DELIVERABLE:

During the final phase, there will be some communication but it should go pretty quickly, it will be just taking the intermediate forms and cleaning them up, making them look really good like a "printers" typeface from 100 or more years ago.

The final deliverable is a FontForge file. The letters must be done in a vector format so they can be scaled to any size. Alternately, you may deliver individual SVG files, one per letter, for a total of 22 files.

You must spend an hour or two googling for "paleo hebrew inscriptions" "paleo hebrew alphabet", "moabite stone", and so on. This will give you a good feel for paleo Hebrew as an alphabet.

If this project turns out well, I will want bold and italic font types made, and then courier and helvetica versions of all of the above. But that is future.

In the FontForge file, the letters will be in their appropriate Unicode codepoints; no other character encoding will be used.

If, in your studies of paleo Hebrew inscriptions you find any ligatures, contact me and I'll bump up payables in your favor.

To clarify my specification; It doesn't have to exactly be a Times Roman font, but it should definitely look like a serif "type-face", if anything, looking like one of the classical fonts from the beginning of printing, sort of like the "Essays" font for English, or the Ezra font for modern Hebrew. It should look sharp and good, but with the ancient paleo Hebrew letter forms.

Here is a link to some existing paleo hebrew fonts, so you can get an idea of the range of the letter forms; but I'd also like you to look at images of the Moabite Stone and other inscriptions to get a better "feel" for the paleo Hebrew alphabet. Look at all the fonts to get the feel for it, but give slightly greater weight to the Moabite font than to the others.
