Build a Website

I am building a personal reference database which allows access with a username and password, I may let others in the house use it so it would be advantageous to be able to filter results based on username. This is a personal project to allow me to search through a music collection database to make it easier to locate the correct CD, I need it web based and also compatible with mobile devices as I am on the iphone more than a PC. my web server is Linux based, I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS OR USE OF A WINDOWS SERVER, so this must be considered I have had a search round the web and found a way that uses google docs which does work quite well and to be honest, does what I need for free, but I don't like the look of it and even after editing the index page still looks crap. the original can be found here [login to view URL] I will supply a sample table in excel format with a few lines filled for an idea of the data, the age field is filled with a formula calculated from todays date and the release date field, this must work. As the example web link above, I need to search and sort on all data, so I must be able to sort be age, title or artist, search via a search box, and all has to be on one page. The server has MySQL and other services running so most formats should be compatible.
