Design of emergency services control and childrens math game

This assignment requires you to design and evaluate 2 different HCI designs for 2 different applications. For each application you must complete the following:- • Research the scenario and show existing HCI environments for each application, show diagrams of the applications and list all sources. • Produce 2 initial designs for each scenario and evaluate them. • Design each final application after choosing the best initial design paying particular attention to the controls you place on the forms, and list all input and output requirements. The two scenarios are listed below:- Scenario 1 – Emergency Services Control You are required to design a GUI for a central controller who has to assign emergency services which include Police, Fire, and Ambulance for the Somerset area. The controller must be able to assign the nearest appropriate units to a callout. Also consider how you will display the units and also how information can be quickly retrieved on the status of avalible units. Think carefully about how you will display the information on screen to minimise time required to get these services to the areas they are needed. Scenario 2 – Childrens Maths Game You have been asked to design a simple math’s learning program which is aimed at children between the ages of 4 to 11. The program is to test children’s ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Select examples of existing programs available discuss the HCI good and bad points and using this information design a GUI for the program. For each of the designs you produce compare the researched scenarios with your design and discuss the HCI and explain which parts are better including why. Your discussion should include reference to the use of colours, fonts and placement of buttons, input and output methods and the use of icons etc.
