Dynamics NAV Development Consultant review and feedback on Dev Specification

We are searching for a suitably qualified Dynamics NAV consultant to review a project specification for a Dynamics NAV development project.

The requirement of this project is for the review of the prepared specification document to ascertain the feasibility of the project and whether the objectives and scope of the project can be met. Further, it would be expected that the consultant will provide ideas and feedback on improving the specification and ultimately the objectives of the project and as applicable update and finalise the specification document ready for development works.

Upon completion of the specification document, it will be released to third party developers to undertake the development to completion. It is important that the consultant NAV professional is un-related to any third party development company that may undertake the scope of works of this project.

We wish to retain the services of the consultant throughout the life of the project to assist us in working with developers who will be building the project, to ensure a timely and positive result.

The Project Details

This project specification is to deliver an integrated payment service between the Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP system existing payment services functionality and an Australian Banking gateway payment provider compliant with the EFTPOS and banking payment transaction standards.

The payment integration service will be utilized by the business to allow customers to make payment to the business at the point of sale, at the time of invoice posting electronically by Credit and Debit card through dedicated EFTPOS payment terminals.

The payment provider service to be utilized is “PC-EFTPOS”, an Australian payment gateway that utilizes a middleware software client / server architecture to connect POS and ERP systems through an EFTPOS payment processing sub-system and then onto the seller’s bank.

The specification details the functionality required by the business to complete such payments from within the Dynamics NAV ERP platform, however does not provide specific detail on how the integration between Dynamics NAV or the payment processing sub-system operates. Detailed documentation regarding interface and integration to the payment processing platform is included as part of this document.

Background

The business has recently implemented Microsoft Dynamics NAV to replace its legacy ERP system in an effort to improve and streamline its core financial and customer relationship management processes across the business. Whilst the NAV implementation provides functionality across most processes of the business, a number of business processes are not covered by the system in its native standard or extended configuration.

Sales verticals operated by the business include services and retail sales, which require the payment of invoices at the time of purchase, by payment types accepted at the time of purchase. This includes payment types such as cash and credit / debit card.

The system extension detailed within this specification is one part of a wider system extension that will be required by the business, which includes cash handling at the point of sale, cash drawer functionality including cash drawer management and operation of the drawer, cash and safe management, custom layout to RTC and pages for POS functionality, and reports including 80mm receipts. Whilst these items are not covered by this specification, further extensions will be commissioned under a staged rollout over a period of time.
