Code Review & Assistance - Java, Struts2, MySQL

Let me start by saying I'm not a Java developer - I've developed in Ruby and Javascript so I have a basic understanding of programming, but I recognize that Java has more complexities. However, I needed to come up to speed on Java quickly and was asked to build a very simple program using: J2EE, Struts2, MySQL, and Tomcat. I've written the program but need someone to review my code and help me troubleshoot my issues. Also, explaining some things to me so that I learn more about how Java works. My project is this: On [login to view URL] use a form to collect 3 pieces of data about an OS from a user - Name, Version, Notes. Name and Version are required - use Struts2 validation to enforce this (the notes are optional). Upon Submit, go to a second page ([login to view URL]) and display a table that contains all the existing data records The [login to view URL] should also contain a link to enter a new record (back to [login to view URL] and trigger a new record) I am using: Java - 7 u 40 Apache Tomcat - 7 Netbeans - 7.3 Maven Hibernate Struts2 - 2.3.15.2 I am in Singapore so my time zone is +8 UTC My results need to be: running program :) .war and source files understanding of how a 3rd party would install the app
