Hi, I have 5+ years of experience. Developed various projects in .Net with MsSql database. Infact, 90% of the projects done so far are in ASP, which includes simple dynamic page to complex ecommerce related websites. So the task will be : 1) Uploading feature of text file 2) After loading, it will list out the columns. 3) Provision will be given to map the columns with the master predefined columns 4) After mapping it will process the business logic (e.g 01 becomes Mr, 02 becomes Ms etc). 5) Duplication finding proceess 6) Search provision etc. Can you send the sample text file and business logic to process.? Now as per your requirements we needs to have list of rules/action which you wants to implement in data import system. In addition to steps you mention, you can have one dummy data import .. last step import as TEST data which will do same thing but with dummy tables and once result it good you can have option to perform final import. No problem for me to use Visual Basic (VB.NET) and SQL Server. It seems from your specifications that this would be a Desktop Application, with it's own installation. It's possible that you could want something web based, but it seems more likely from the description that you want a desktop installed app. Are these for Windows machines? IE.. Win XP-Win-8. The way I understand your current situation is that you have, or are getting customer information in a text file. Possible this is in some kind of proprietary-format, or it could be in CSV format (meaning comma delimited). Either way, I would figure out the fields, and format it to being able to get this piped into a real DB, that is SQL Server. Than after it is in SQL Server, we will add the search capabilities you desire. You speak of getting rid of duplicates, and preserving the original. Even the original file could be stored in the DB. To boil this down: The VB.NET code would need an Import function from the original text data, to the SQL Server. This could be automated possibly. Perhaps when the text data is downloaded, to a certain directory, or maybe even an web-location??, than it will automatically parse through the file and add the new data to the server. You may also want some (SQL Server) SSRS reporting functions, and an Export function to Excel. Contact me on this project... Robert Koernke
