We currently have an established Bridalwear store running oscommerce (2.2) – thebridesboutique co uk
I am looking to add some filters to the ‘Bridal’ section to allow customers to narrow down the products and find what they are looking for. Currently we only have a drop down menu on the left of the products which allows customers to select a particular Designer and to see their products – I want to use this left hand space and vastly improve on it.
The inspiration for this is coming from ASOS online store ([login to view URL] - I have also attached a screen print) as you can see on that link to the left hand side customers can use checkboxes to select various things, such as a particular size, a particular style or a particular colour – or a mix of them all. It also has a sliding bar which allows customers to set a min and max price and view the products matching this.
The variables we are looking to allow customers to filter by are-
Price (sliding scale preferably)
Designer (checkboxes)
Size (checkboxes)
Silhouette (checkboxes)
Neckline (checkboxes)
Fabric (checkboxes)
Colour (checkboxes)
These should all be displayed similar to ASOS with headings that can be expanded or minimised when clicked on.
On the admin side, I expect the product entry pages would need to be changed to have data entry boxes for each of the above options (price and designer already there) – this would allow us to enter the correct data for each product so it is displayed when the customer filters them.
As this is an active store this would need to be done with little to no disturbance to day to day running.
