I need the assistance of an experienced SQL 2000 DBA and c# ASP.NET web developer. Using .NET framework 1.1. Sql queries should use SPs. I wish to use ComponentArt for the charting engine.
I have an online website that collects stats about products viewed by users using digital kiosks. Each kiosk has a site id. Site S0001, S0002, S0003.
Each product has a unique id such as P0001, P0002, and can have various attributes registered. For example, Product P0001, has Attribute name: color A0001 Attribute Value: Red and Attribute name: Weight A0002 Attribute Value: 10kgs. These attributes can be user defined by site.
The database holds product ids and also the attribute types and values registered; eg;
Site S0001, (Prod) P0001, (AttribName)A0001, (AttribVal)Red
Site S0001, (Prod) P0001, (AttribName)A0002, (AttribVal)10kgs
Site S0002, (Prod) P0003, (AttribName)A0002, (AttribVal)20kgs
Site S0002, (Prod) P0003, (AttribName)A0001, (AttribVal)Yellow
Site S0004, (Prod) P0004, (AttribName)A0001, (AttribVal)Blue
Site S0004, (Prod) P0005, (AttribName)A0001, (AttribVal)Yellow
When a product is viewed the database records the product id and because of the previous mappings between product and attribute name/values we have information about what type of product has been viewed.
I need a flexible reporting engine developed that allows charting with various combinations of sites and attribute types. The reporting system should be able to allow a user to create their own report types using the Sites and attribute combinations available.
eg.
Most popular products by <Attribute Name>
Top 10 products by <Attribute Name>
The system should be efficient as there will be large amounts of data. Any advice welcomed.
We should discuss on skype at length before starting work.
