My first computer was a Sinclair ZX 81 and my first job was working as a software engineer for a London based company. I am 47 years old and I started programming in 1980 and electronics in 1978. I am an IT, Programming, Hardware, Electronics, GSM/VOIP/SAT/RF expert (or pretty good). I am an Asterisk expert and a C, Assembly, Linux expert. I build Asterisk PBXs, my own business uses an Asterisk PBX since 2004 and I am also a VOIP consultant for wholesale operators and do VOIP device feasibility studies. More to the point: Are you trying to detect the signal that asterisk (any phone system actually) sends to indicate that there's VM in the caller's box? If that is the case yes, it can be done by changing the Asterisk code (C language) or maybe even in the dialplan itself, depending on what you want to do with it. What do you want to do after you detect the 'tone'? This is important, do you want to play a message, transfer the call, etc. Therefore, my bid is tentative.
