I have created an application for Mac OS X that lets you use a Bluetooth enabled phone to read / write / send SMS messages. The application communicates with the phone over the dial-up channel using AT commands.
One major problem I have encountered is that Symbian based phones have limited or no functionality with respect to SMS related AT commands. The Series 60 bluetooth devices (Nokia 3650, 6600, 7650, N-Gage & Siemens SX-1) don't allow access to internal SMS memory (SIM card access does exist however). The UIQ devices (Sony Ericsson P800 and P900) don't have any SMS functionality with AT commands.
**What I need is for a non-GUI program to run in the background on these Symbian phones and reinstate the missing SMS functionality on a new Bluetooth channel.**
**Requirements:**
* Automatically started when the phone turns on, does not display an icon
* Creates and advertises an SDP service for a new serial channel
* Supports the reading/listing/deleting/sending/saving of SMS messages from internal and SIM memory
(no PDU encoding/decoding is required, my app will handle that)
* Sends notification of any new incoming SMS messages
* Runs on all popular Bluetooth Symbian phones (see devices listed above)
* One version preferred. Two if it is necessary to split into Series 60 / UIQ versions.
* Easily installable/deleteable
