I currently have an Active Perl program that serves as a 'Contact us' page for a web site. The server is a Windows 2000 server. The script works with an HTML template, which displays empty fields for the user to input data within, along with a SUBMIT button. The input data is error checked by the script (upon the visitor clicking SUBMIT), and the input then is forwarded via email (the server has an email service available). I would like to take this existing set of templates and script and modify it to function as a random questionaire generator. I would like to have a series of predefined questions randomly displayed to a visitor of a particular web page. I can provide the HTML template for this page. I want a random question to be inserted into the web page, and the input fields that the visitor inputs will be sent just like the existing script does. Essentially, all I want to do is to use the same Active Perl script and HTML template but to insert a random question into my existing HTML doorway page (using a variable in the HTML code), and then include that question with the data that the visitor inputs into the form when they click SUBMIT. It is fairly simple. There is one more item, however... The question that is displayed to the user must not be a question that they had previously seen. This means that a cookie will need to be used. The cookie will be used to identify which (if any) questions (based upon an index number) has been presented to the visitor. If there are no new questions (meaning the visitor has answered all of the available questions), then the predefined redirect URL that is currently embedded in the script should be used to redirect the visitor to another page. If the user has disabled the use of cookies, then don't worry about presenting a unique question. Instead, I want the script to either: a) immediately redirect the visitor to the predefined URL, or b) display a random question anyhow, regardless of whether it may be a repeated question. As to whether a or b is performed should be based upon an internal constant/value in the script. This will give me the flexibility of choosing the behavior of the script. I don't expect the number of questions to exceed more than a dozen or two.
