Add AJAX features to CGI pages

Our webserver runs Apache 2.2 on Fedora 7. We have a number of web forms in CGI for performing all sorts of system configuration. Today, these are all very basic, static pages. We would like to add some AJAX functionality to these pages to enhance the user experience. Features we would like to add include progress bars, collapsing panels, confirmation buttons that dim the web page, hover menus, and more. You can see a number of these AJAX examples here: http://www.asp.net/AJAX/AjaxControlToolkit/Samples/HoverMenu/HoverMenu.aspx There are about 50 pages today, ranging from very basic (needing just one AJAX-like feature) to more advanced (needing 3 AJAX-like features).
