Create a web service driven help page that can be easily configured to display content based on the Query String field. An example from Amazon is provided below. This page is made up of 3 columns. Each being composed of several page parts. The left and right columns are the Link Collections. Link Collections are grouping of links within a specific area. The middle is composed of a wysiwyg editor that can be used to enter HTML content.
- Each help page can be configured directly within the page
- There will be a gear to the top right of the help document. When the user clicks on the gear, it will have a dropdown. In the dropdown, there will be links: Create Help Document, Delete Help Document, Image1, Image2, Image3, Add Link Collection.
- I will add the proper admin access to the buttons so it is not necessary to put security around the buttons.
- Image1, Image2 and Image3 are three different images that show the different layouts (columns) that can be used for the currently viewed help page: No sidebar, left sidebar, left + right sidebar.
- If the left or the right sidebars are displayed, then the blue outlined or turquoise outlined area will appear (these are the sidebars). You don’t need to show the outline, I only added them there so I can refer to the image
- When Add Link Collection is clicked, it will check which sidebar is displayed. If it finds more than one sidebar, it will then ask the user where to add the link collection by displaying a modal window with a left sidebar, and left + right sidebar.
- The user will select the sidebar they want and the Link Collection will be created in it.
- Each Link Collection will have a Remove button.
- In the Amazon example, we have three link collections. Topics, Self-Service and Other Help Sites. Link Collections are used to categorize and group links to other help documents
- When the user starts typing in the input field, a type ahead will search for existing help topics.
- When the user hits the enter key, the help topic will then be added to the Link Collection section.
- Each Link Collection will have a Help Topic input field.
- Inside these section, will be a button for the user to add a Help Part (see the gear icon in the Link Collection). Help Parts is a text field where the user can enter HTML. Every HTML created in the Help Part will be placed within a div tag and a custom css tag that defines it as a Help Part. Existing Help Parts will have a delete icon to the right of the div tag. The delete icon will look exactly like the delete icon for the Help Topic.
- The middle column is a full wysiwyg HTML editor.
- The HTML editor will have a save icon that when clicked will implement the version of ajax I give you.
