Please note: Completion of a test is required for consideration of this position. We pay a nominal fee for the test which will be added to your first project payment when you join our team. I run a successful professional writing service and am looking for perfectionists with quality control and/or editing and proofreading experience. You will be required to quality control (QC) various types of documents: academic, dossiers, whitepapers, articles, etc. Strong comprehension skills are of the highest priority. The QC performs three primary tasks when reviewing work for clients: 1. To assess a written project to ensure that it complies with all requirements within the brief/job description. Of particular importance is to ensure that the content is concise and logical, as well as in agreement and complete fulfilment with the project guidelines. 2. To submit an error-free paper. This entails proofreading to ensure there is correct syntax, grammar, and spelling. If work is particularly shoddy, we do not expect you to do all corrections, but to send the work back to the writer for them to proofread and amend accordingly. 3. To edit for clarity, flow, and overall improvement. Additional skills required include:  Referencing skills – the work is mostly evidence-based.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills –you will be required to collaborate and work closely with other members of the team, as the QC interacts frequently with the writer, providing constructive comments for work improvement.  Exceptional comprehension skills – a piece of work can have perfect grammar, but if it doesn’t fit the client brief it is of no use.  Detail-orientated with the ability to adhere to job descriptions and follow instructions.  Initiative and originality – plagiarism will not be tolerated.  Reliability – we need projects completed on time to ensure we provide a high quality of service to our customers. The QC is ultimately responsible for the quality of the end product. This may require revisions by the writer and a project is not considered complete until the QC is completely satisfied that the writer has achieved this objective. The work flow can vary, but there is usually work available, or work that will be available soon. The pay is based on the final word count of the project and ranges between £6 and £9 per 1000 words, depending on the skill of the writer and the amount of time and editing required. Please check our feedback, which shows us to be a well-based, reliable client. We are a friendly team and look forward to welcoming you. Please begin your proposal with the words “I Deliver Quality Control” and tell me what interests you about this job?

Obligatory message: I Deliver Quality Control Hi there, I'm a writer, and editor. I'm interested in this job because your business sounds established and like one I'd want to mention on my resume. I have a fair amount of experience in writing (for my age), and although I've done a fair bit of editing so far, it's not too much. I've undertaken editing for five books (one non-fiction, the rest all fiction), and for a few articles and product descriptions. If I get selected, I'd like to communicate with you and get clarification on some details. I agree to the test, as long as it's not very time-consuming. I lack social skills and although that doesn't make me a very good conversationalist, it does make me a good person to work with. That's because I haven't developed tact and the tendency to lie, so I generally tell the truth, no matter how bare it sounds. Clients have appreciated that in the past, but to each their own, as they say. If my bid proposal sounds a little too direct, I apologise. It's just the way I am, and the way I speak. If you think I'm suitable for this project, message me, and we can discuss this further. I look forward to haring from you. Thanks, Priya

Hi, I deliver quality control. Actually, I was working as a proofreader in a large video game company (publisher of Skyrim) for 3.5 years, but I am taking a break for a while, and started working on Freelancer. The way I would usually work would be by starting with a quick read through of each project, to get a sense of the tone and context and understand your field of work, which I usually find to be as important as correct grammar and spelling. Then I would perform the actual proofreading, making sure your text matches both the appropriate tone and context, and is of course in proper English. My main question aboutthe job would be to know if there are mandatory hours, and if the proofreading projects are available on demand (can I start working on any project any time I want?) If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. Have a good day, Arthur

“I Deliver Quality Control” Even though I am a newbie, I was encouraged to bid simply because of the test mentioned in the Project Description. Below is an excerpt from an unpublished short story of mine. … Dusk was setting in, and Buhari was still trying to make up his mind on what to do, when he perceived a sudden powerful presence, which made him look nervously around him in one quick sweep. Seeing nothing, he quickly composed and sent a text message informing his colleagues that he’s off to get them toiletries, and started the engine. Just a short distance away from the thickly wooded forest, a solitary figure fully dressed in black and blending with the shadows watched him drive away, then an ominous smile formed on the evil ragged face….
