Wildfire is a replacement server for the GameSpy protocol, built on an open-source program, currently supporting a limited amount of games and utilizes Amazon's AWS infrastructure.
Due to various issues with the open-source implementation (as outlined below), Wildfire is in need of being re-written. I aim to purchase the [login to view URL] domain in order to provide continuation of multiplayer games that used the Gamespy protocol (am already in the process or purchasing it), and after its aqusition I will be crowdfunding the money required to re-write the Wildfire Gamespy replacement server & add support for many more games.
As such, this project will not be commencing for a few months; this Freelancer.com project is simply to look at the cost.
Wildfire currently runs on Windows Server 2012 R2, with a SQLite database.
Please note that there exists a library in the open-source project Wildfire is based on of which its source was not included. The Freelancer will either have to reverse engineer it, include it in Wildfire 2 as-is, or work out what its purpose is (I don't know) and re-write it.
This project is for:
- To re-write the Wildfire master-server from its current open-source C# implementation into C++;
- Change Wildfire from SQLite to MSSQL;
- Add support for select games (TBD), such as Crysis 2;
If it goes to plan, Wildfire 2 will run on a dedicated set of infrastructure located in the U.K with DDoS protection (provider has already been selected).
NOTE: For security purposes this project will have an NDA when the time comes to start it (will be in June of this year). The Freelancer must have excellent command of the English language.
The budget for the project will be £20,000 fixed.
