This is a project for a BIND DNS configuration master.
Project goal is to configure BIND DNS server, which is furthermore patched by geoIP patch.
Your output will be a configuration file '[url removed, login to view]' and several zone files (to put in /var/named)
GeoIP patch for BIND is from here:
[url removed, login to view]
You can read there example usage. It adds this functionality for example: match-clients { geoip_cityDB_country_US; };
Your goal is to configure BIND DNS server to behave like this:
- for any domain name request comming from USA, return valid reply with this A record: 1.1.1.1
- for any domain name request comming from other countries, return valid reply with this A record: 2.2.2.2
- together with all replies, return valid NS records: [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view]
- resolve these two NS records to distinct IP addresses regardless of client's geo location. ns1 resolves to 1.1.1.1 and ns2 resolves to 2.2.2.2 for all clients.
(I will make sure that glue NS records are set the same in domain registry)
The reply must contain valid SOA etc... If you review (at [url removed, login to view]) the NS status of any domain which resolves at this bind nameserver, it must not produce any errors.
To make it clear, the configured BIND server will reply valid reply for ALL requests, for example aaaaa.com or bbbbb.com, all domains which are to be resolved by this bind server will be accepted, and the reply will vary for requests from USA and requests from other countries. The dns server will never reply "domain doesn't exist".
