We’re putting together a small event at a larger technology and marketing conference. The theme for our event is mobile commerce, you can read more of the description below.
We are looking for a few quick designs. The site will be built by our own development team.
•? Background design for the homepage of the website for the event [note: this will be a one page site – navigation will be anchors
•? Banner ad – we will put this on our business website and in our event emails [468 x 60]
•? Background design for a 1 page handout at the event (it features the schedule and the speaker’s bios) [8x11 printed page]
•? Should include one design element [128 x 128] that can be included on name tags and other printed material
Design thoughts:
•? Last year’s website: [login to view URL]
o We like that they used clouds in their imagery, it helped make sure the space around the text was white and thus, easy to read. If you want to incorporate clouds again, that would be fine.
•? It should definitely highlight satellites, and the mobile theme.
•? Since this is about business and monetary transactions, these can be elements of the design. Nothing too heavy handed here, but it’s a general thought to help put you in the right perspective for this design assignment.

As the retail and payment worlds are about to undergo significant disruption through changes in consumer behavior, what are the threats, opportunities and winning strategies for retailers, banks and marketers
Overview
As the retail shopping experience is about to undergo the most significant disruption it has seen in decades, a war is developing among the key players of the commerce ecosystem to win the heart (and wallet) of the consumer. Consumers are now able to compare prices on their mobile phone while in a store, pay with their mobile phone rather than cash or credit card or even skip the entire store experience and have items delivered to their home the same day.
Will retailers fight back with mobile incentives, location-based analytics, NFC, show rooming, aggressive loyalty programs, merging online and offline experiences, augmented reality, self-mobile checkout or in-aisle automated assistance? With alternative payment options on the rise, will credit card companies still own the payment experience? How will loyalty programs “play” in this ecosystem?
Marketers are at the core of this radical change, which will redefine the tools and environments in which they work. Each of the different stakeholders—brands, retailers, banks, payments companies and mobile start-ups—will need to understand their customers’ behaviors in order to survive in the new mobile commerce-enabled world.
