Job Description:
I require the services of transcription agents ideally located in India (Bangalore, New Delhi, Bombay, etc). They should be fluent in English and be able to type quite fast. It should take no longer than 2 hours to transcribe a 1 hour dictation playing at 55-60% of the true speed. Therefore if you take more than 2 hours to transcribe 1 hour of audio, it will not be worth your time.
I am prepared to pay 200 Indian rupees per audio hour. The content is of a business nature so medical/legal knowledge is not required. I will pay via PayPal every 5 audio hours. You will receive 1000 Indian rupees per day if you transcribe 5 audio hours per day.
You will obviously require a PC and some audio software that can slow down audio playback to about 55-60% of original speed to keep up. I use OGG audio codec so 1.5 hours of audio consumes about 20MB. You should have at least dial up internet access to download the audio files but broadband is preferred.
I am happy to give more work to loyal agents if they produce quality transcription in full. Minor spelling mistakes are acceptable. You can also use abbreviations as this will save a lot of time if you wish (e.g org=organization, intl = international, etc) Please make sure I can read and comprehend your transcription however!
Before delivering the files, I require you to accept to the following 2 conditions:
1. You must not disclose, distribute or copy any part of the confidential transcription audio files to anybody else. You must keep the transcription audio files secret and confidential and delete the transcription audio files stored on your computer (and any copies) once you have finished the transcription and given me the text files.
2. You must use the transcription audio files only for the purpose of transcribing, and must not use the transcription audio files for any other purpose.
Please send me a PM confirming you agree to the above 2 conditions. Once I receive your acceptance, I will provide instructions to download the transcription audio files and to upload the completed transcriptions. If you require software for transcription use, you can download Express Scribe ([login to view URL]) for free. This software has the ability to slow down playback and play OGG files. Closed type headphones are HIGHLY recommended to cut out background noise. You can type up the text in a text file (Notepad) or Microsoft Word. Please use a new file for each transcribed audio file.
