Sounds like something similar to those digital photo frame products? If so then I can already 'picture' what the architecture could look like--get it? haha. I'm a passionate Arch Linux user with hands on experience using RPIs and feh (I use feh a lot!). I just read more about framen and pi3d and it seems these are common utilities to make a photo frame product; so looks like my guess is right ;).
