Multimedia Content Specialist

A prominent higher learning institution in Boston is looking for someone who is excited to tell the story of the school and its faculty, staff, students, patients and community initiatives by creating compelling content across a range of media (e.g., written, video, photo, social, web, digital). This content should engage, entertain, and educate key internal and external audiences in order to raise the school's visibility and to advance the school’s mission and strategic priorities. The right person to fill this role is someone who can spot the story in anything and who is not afraid to get out from behind a desk, meet new people, and ask a lot of questions. The Multimedia Content Creator is responsible for supporting other communications efforts as needed, such as marketing efforts or alumni publications, by creating content, editing content, or providing other support as necessary. REQUIRED SKILLS: Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree in English, communications, or journalism preferred. Two or more years of experience in a relevant field (e.g., communications, journalism, video production, photography) can be considered as the equivalent of a master's degree. OTHER SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent written and oral skills, with previous experience in a writing, copywriting, or editing role preferred Experience managing social media accounts, with experience managing social media accounts on behalf of an organization or company preferred Experience (either personal or professional) shooting video and taking photographs, with experience taking candid, documentary-style videos and photos preferred. Experience with Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, or other video editing software Experience with Adobe Photoshop or other photography editing software Experience with social media management and analytics tools, such as Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, Buffer, etc. High attention to detail Proficient at multi-tasking with excellent time management skills and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team Strong applicants must be comfortable working in ambiguous situations with shifting priorities and deadlines. Strong applicants must be proactive and flexible and willing to adapt to changing requirements or circumstances. Applicants are asked to submit a portfolio that includes 3-5 work samples, including at least one written piece, one video, and one photograph. Strong applicants will have a strong bent toward continuous improvement and be excited about the opportunity to learn and grow within the role. Strong applicants must be comfortable working in ambiguous situations with shifting priorities and deadlines. The Multimedia Content Creator is responsible for other duties and responsibilities as needed to support the Office of Communications and External Relations in achieving its goals and strategic priorities. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be necessary.
