Facebook Groups – Our Internet Tribes
You’ve been mastering the basics of posting messages, photos, and other stuff of interest on your Facebook Timeline. Have you noticed something growing (besides the number of posts)? Maybe it’s a group in the making. You may have noticed that a lot of your posts are related to family, work, or special interest topics – your “Internet Tribe(s)”.
If you have information you want to share with only a small group of people, you can transform any of your Internet Tribes into a Facebook Group. Facebook suggests that you create a group “for each of the important parts of your life – family, teammates, and coworkers – you decide who sees what you share”.
Creating a group can be done in just a few steps:
1. Start at your Facebook homepage and go to the Groups section located on the left side menu. Click More.
2. Click Create Group and a window will appear where you can add a group name.
3. In the Members space, type the name of a friend; if you have several friends with the same name, all of those same names will pop up. Select the name of choice and click Enter. Your first member is now added to your new group. Repeat the process.
