I have a project with Excel vba vlookup that needs modified. The tables are large and the vlookup is very slow. When I read documentation, the suggestion is to use a double vlookup, which I am not able to get the syntax right,. This is the line that is working, but slow: LookupResult = [login to view URL](LookupValue, LookupRange, 2, False) This from an example - that I can’t get it to work: ' =IF(VLOOKUP(lookup_value, table_array, 1, TRUE)=lookup_value, ' VLOOKUP(lookup_value, table_array, col_index_num, TRUE),NA()) This gig is to get an existing routine running faster I know what this line is running slow, I don't know what the fix is. The trick question is - do you know why this line of code is slow? If you do, then I know you understand the problem, and hopefully the fix, and I'll know you actually read this msg. I will provide the macro code upon project aware Thank you

I have read your project description and it seems that the problem is that the actual size of your data. Using Vlookup checks your whole data which why it takes more processing time. I have an alternative solution which involves using a loop; feel free to contact me so we can discuss more.

Hello, I am Excel and VBA expert. The problem is not the line of code you are writing about. The whole macro is a problem. You can not change one line of code to make the macro fast. The entire macro must be written so that it is fast. I can write this macro anew and I guarantee it will be much faster. How big is the sheet, how many rows? If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer. Please note that I have 100% completion rate and 5-star feedback on over 50 projects. Jan

Hello, I am ready to discuss project with you. Being experienced in working on several excel vba projects I can help you in getting vlookup fix done. As line given by you there are 2 nested vlookups happening which seems to causing it slow because of huge data. A workaround seems to be used through some vba code to make it work faster. I am available to start now and want to discuss more specific details. Looking forward to have further project discussion on chat. Thanks. Vimal Arora

Hello, I would be my pleasure to help you out in improving the speed of the macro. There could be many reasons why the lookup is slow. First of all, VLOOKUP is slower than INDEX-MATCH. I would use the second one instead It's possible to use double vlookup with approximate match that is using binary search and it's faster. At the same time, could be other issues on why the lookup is slow. For example the screenupdating and calculations are not turned off Kind regards, Sorin

Hi there, First of all NA() is not a function. Second, the using VLOOKUP in VBA is always slower than using loops and arrays. I can help you out and make sure your code is optimised to run at the highest speed possible for Excel. PM me if interested

Hi, there must be many other cells with formulas, that are being calculated each time this line of code puts a vlookup formula in the cell. You see, all the formulas re-calculate on each sheet_Change event by itself. I can provide a great solution for this, and very quickly. Please initiate a chat. Regards, Anish
