• Assignment 1: KidsHome Website (Part 1) Due Week 6 and worth 180 points This assignment will contain two (2) Sections: Preplanning Phase and Coding Phase. You must submit both sections as separate files for the completion of this assignment. You are only to demonstrate the specific requirements requested. You have been asked to create a Web page for a nonprofit organization called KidsHome. This organization collects charitable donations, in the form of monies, clothing, food, cleaning supplies, and general hygiene supplies, and sends them to families in need throughout the U.S. Currently its Web page consist of a two (2) sites that are linked together with hyperlinks. The site was created years ago with Microsoft Front page and contains no dynamic content. The goal is to improve KidsHome Website’s overall look, so the organization can consider expanding to help children globally. Section 1: Preplanning Design (MS Word Document or equivalent) The preplanning design consists of a document that defines the element specifically requested by the client and indicates where these features will be located on the Website. This is an important component to complete before you start building the application and should be used as a guideline when developing the Website. 1. Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you: a. Describe your design of the following client requirements: b. A new company logo to replace the logo across the top of the page c. A color scheme that promotes a calm feeling (warm natural colors) d. A font that is easy to read e. An “About” page that summarizes the company f. A hierarchical variable list based on the provided main categories and sub-categories Main Category Subcategory Clothing T-shirts, pants, shoes Food Canned goods, dry goods Cleaning supplies Dish washing soap, wipes, hand sanitizer Hygiene Soap, toothpaste, deodorant Monetary donation 2. i. A “Contact” element, including a phone number and email address c. Describe the JavaScript components used in the development. Section 1 of the assignment must follow these formatting requirements: • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required assignment page length. Section 2: Coding Phase (.zip file containing the screen shot of the project, validation results, and JavaScript code files) The next step in the process is to take the design you created in the preplanning phase and implement it into a working Website. You must submit a .zip file containing the following files for the completion of Section 2 of this assignment.  JavaScript code files  Validation results  One (1) screen shot of the designed site from your Web browser 2. Create a Website in which you: a. Create your design from Section 1 that includes the following client requirements: i. A new company logo to replace the logo across the top of the page ii. A color scheme that promotes a calm feeling (warm natural colors) iii. A font that is easy to read iv. The Navigator object to create the “About” page that summarizes the company v. A hierarchical variable list based on the provided main categories and sub-categories Main Category Subcategory Clothing T-shirts, pants, shoes Food Canned goods, dry goods Cleaning supplies Dish washing soap, wipes, hand sanitizer Hygiene Soap, toothpaste, deodorant Monetary donation vi. A “Contact” element, including a phone number and email addresses vii. The Windows close() object which properly closes the browser window when a user clicks the “X” b. Conform to strict Document Type Definition (DTD) standards and verify your design using W3C Markup Validation Services. Save the results and submit with the assignment.
