We are an new innovative retail company changing up the traditional retail department store. We are soon to launch a popup store with 30 brands in New York, who will showcase themselves in designated areas specific to their brand. The type of brands are fashion, beauty, art and furnishings. Each will have approx 50-100 square feet in a 5000 sq. foot space, the space is essentially a blank canvas. This will be in a premium retail location in New York. We are seeking a rockstar visual merchandiser, interior or space planning designer, who can help us design the layout and come up with ideas as to how we can offer consistent rentable small spaces, that drive interest and foot traffic from outside, and a buzz inside! The plan will be somewhat flexible and components can be modular, as the brands will change with each season. We do however need to setup a general floor plan and overall design to get started so we can start allocating spaces appropriately. The design will need to incorporate the right flow for customers, enable brands to have plenty of opportunity to be seen/showcase themselves individually, and include ideas about furnishings and layout, etc. We will also open a small cafe taking approx. 200 square feet. It could be in center or any space deemed best for the foot traffic flow. This is an opportunity to work with a company not following any old rules, who wants to give exciting millennial type brands an amazing ability to showcase themselves. We also want someone who thinks outside the box, surprising, thought provoking ideas welcome, as we want the space to draw in people visually. We may have some installations as well from local artists to make it pop. This is a popup so anything can be considered! We do however need to design a theme/template for our store, and do so in a way that is simple, and without distracting in theme to the brands who are showcasing thier own. Clear interior design, fixtures and fittings that give a certain feel to the space, but enable each brand space to fly their own flags. We are considerate to creative, wild or off the wall ideas. The overall goal is the make the space worth visiting visually, design it so all 30 of our seasonal brands can express themselves and engage with customers, customers feel invited in, and all our build out is done so by design and not chaos. Specifically relating to Fashion, Beauty and Homeware. Great Product is NOT the hero, IT IS NON-NEGOTIABLE, the key is understanding the CUSTOMER and creating experiences that they want to enjoy over and over again. Creating a destination, a desire, a happy place....... an environment with RELEVENCE. Having created this type of environment many times on my design journey, I understand the treader desires to have the best position, the best visibility, the best.... blah, blah, blah. Individualism never works in these spaces (other than the product), the space has to work as a WHOLE for the benefit of the CUSTOMER and then ultimately for the traders. Simple, functional, understood, modular, cost effective..... JOB DONE, and we get to have FUN as well.
