Hello, I am from Calgary, Alberta Canada. I'm a graphic/web designer but am currently building a website for myself as a client. I am not overly experienced and usually do small sites for local companies using css/xhtml and occasionally joomla or wordpress. I want to build a website for a simulated horse game and require some custom php and database work. I have been playing games online like this since 1998 and enjoy them immensely. I have a small budget so I am trying to find quotes. Let me describe the project a bit and I appoligize if this is lengthy. A sim horse game allows its members to register, breed, train, and show imaginary horses. These horses exist only in an online registry (need #1). This registry assigns an ID number and stores vital statistics like name, breed, age, colour, parents, and type of sport/discipline the horse is trained in. Horses are either "created" fresh or bred from two existing registrations. Members transfer money between eachother using 'cheques' (all money is fake) and so need #2 is a banking script. Super simple, no security needed as it is just pure fun-money. Members need to be able to see a running balance of their accounts and send and receive cheques easily. Horses compete in completely randomized horse shows. Need #3 is a way to generate random results for these shows and store them in a database to be called on when looking up a horse's competition record. All shows have preset classlists, a member hosting a show would simply input the horses who were slated to compete in it and ideally hit a button to make the results. Then there would need to be a call funciton to type a horse's name or id number and pull up a full record of all shows they competed in and their results/points for each one. Horses earn achievement titles based on points, points are earned for show placings of 1st through 10th place. Horses are boarded at imaginary stables owned by members. Not all members will own stables, so they must pay to board them at a livery of another member if neccessary. I need (need #4) to track these stables somehow so that no registered horse is ever listed as 'unboarded'. Need #5 and #6 is to track veterinary and farrier work for each horse and is best accomplished within the main horse registry. Members who have 'applied' to become veterinarians or farriers within the game (by attending fake university courses and passing) would need access to the database to record any appointments and records they complete for a horse. The rest of the game is just general community involvement and friendship building. I already have an event calendar to schedule horse shows/races, built a university with courses, have a simulated tack shop to sell supplies for the horses, and a message forum and auction house. The game is already built in Joomla, so it would be great to have these features built in to joomla HOWEVER I can easily adjust the site to a simple xhtml/css site and nix the joomla entirely. If this sounds at all like something you could help me out with, please let me know. I can pay, but until the game gets going and earns revenue I can't pay a lot. Membership fees and ad revenue, along with frequent member donations- these games are quite loved and popular and members are happy to pay for the privledge of a good game. I intend to offer free accounts and premium accounts (premium accounts allow the user to own a simulated stable instead of boarding at one). When it comes to costs, I may need to do the development in stages- start with the registry and bank and open the game from there to further features. My starting budget is $300.00 with additional funds planned to be added to the project in the fall (hopefully another $300 investment) and likely ongoing thereafter for game improvements. Anyways, thanks for reading this rediculously long email, if you've come this far. Let me know! -Candy

I'm very interested in helping you design this game as I enjoy browser based games myself. I have about 2 years of experience programming with php, html, css, and javascript and working towards Zend Certification (for PHP). I am also proficient with Joomla, however I believe this project will work better as a stand alone outside of Joomla. I understand that my bid is above your specified budget in your description, but I am willing to negotiate how payment can be handled. Please check your PMB for details on previous work I have done as well as some questions I have about the project.
