i need a script for a customer's zencart 1.2.4 database, which will allow me to import tens of thousands (even hundreds of thousands) of document-summaries (mostly essays) into my database and make the documents they are linked to, available as documents for sale. customer may update the db to 1.3.0 at some point soon.
the documents are saved both as .txt and .doc. very rarely an essay is saved as only one or the other. most of the time there are those two formats for them. i can send whoever will do the programming work a few dozen of them as samples for experimentation into a test db.
customer would like the script to "pre-import" the documents in any given folder (showing up to 100 or even 1000 summaries of the pre-imports at a time on an admin screen) so that as admin, customer can make sure they are OK and if not, customer can edit / fix / remove the entries that have problems.
what the script will basically have to import is: choose either the txt or doc version of the essay in question, extract the essay title, word/page count, brief summary (usually this is in a summary paragraph up front), etc. Obviously once the documents are pre-imported, the documents should be automatically priced according to our pricing rates (client uses a simple "per page price" on the documents).
fyi right now this new site is on a temporary URL. it will point to a real domain once the database is chock full o' documents ready for sale.
please let me know if you're interested in this programming job, what timeframe you think you can get it done in, and what you think is a fair price.
of course, if you can't do this, i understand and thanks anyway, and if you are able to refer me to anyone you would reccommend, i'd truly appreciate that.
