Access-VBA job to Group-Filter rcds to Mail-Merge for Letters

This is initially a cleanup-fixup job on an existing program called "Resource-File" for nonProfit Service Organizations. I figure it will take 2-4 hours if you are an experienced VBA programmer and can quickly pick-up on other people's programs. This is a pretty sophisticated program however...at least the coding IS NOT for a beginner. If I can fix up this routine to group and filter records per the form we have in place --- specifically all the volunteers of a specific type, or those coded to be in one GROUP or on one COMMITTEE or another -- and then use that filtered subset in a form-driven, wizard like interface to produce mail-merge letters and printing of labels for the envelopes. The parts are all there and they worked in a previous alliteration of this sytem. We changed a number of datafile layouts and tore the program apart and put it back together. I am looking for a new programming resource that I can count on to make lots and lots of future mods. My former freelance programmers have all gotten too popular and don't have time for my piece meal work anymore. I am a Business Systems Analyst in St. Louis and have been doing custom database programs since 1983, MS-Access systems since 1997 and in business since 1977. I have been away from desktop database systems however since 2002. I have been concentrating on web projects of my own design since then. I mention all this because now I need to take this system -- Resource-File (for nonProfits), and eventually (once it is all working in this newest format) and have it sync up to a central MySql online database.
