We are a car dealership and I am looking for someone to modify existing VB files I have - and also to write a VB application to clean up a text file. We have three lines of cars - so the function of the programs works throughout all lines(with a few exceptions).
What is involved:
1. Text Cleaner (do not have the source files - will need to be written) Anyway - we export inventory lists from our canned ADP system. This file is usually messed up and the garbage needs to be removed. Also it needs to modify one coluom and remove a couple of characters. The purpose of this program is to get it ready for the next program - one that imports the text into the database. This text file has to have the text in the right spot or stuff gets put in wrong - or deleted. I do have a file that a coder did for me on this web site and it does 90% of what I need. Problem is he dissappeared before completing and I have no source files for this
2. File import programs: Really neat - they work - only thing I need is to change stored drive paths - no other changes. This program matches the stock numbers that are in the text file against the database - if it finds it in both - it skips it. If it not found in the text file - but is in the database - it is deleted (sold). If in the text file and not in the database - it gets added. All this works.. In both new and used.
3. The Editor: This is what I need the most work on. The program displays the stock number with a bunch of check boxes - you check the box and it puts a code in the text file (this is later decoded for our web and local use). Anyway - I would like to have the engines read from a text file that I can edit - this way when new engines and transmissions are developed - it is no problem adding them in. In the program it would show a drop down box with the available selections for engines - and then transmissions. I would also like to have a drop down box that populates designate fields based on standard features of whatever vehicle. I know all this doesn't make much since now - but it will when you see the application it will.

4. The file searcher. I have it now where it will go through and match the database with files stored for pictures and check to see if I have any empty option fields. - and it will spit out a list of things that are missing. Simple stuff. I need it now to also look for missing invoices - these are scanned and in their own directory.
I have the source files for everything but the file cleaner
