I need a simple script to extract first names from a list of email addresses.
.double first names should be prioritized
>example : for the email address jeanpierre AT [login to view URL] , the script should extract jeanpierre instead of jean
.longer first names should be prioritized
>example : for the email address ameliebb AT [login to view URL], the script should extract amelie instead of amel
if there is no match, the script should extract the entire string before @, without numbers
>example : for the email address laodone12245 AT [login to view URL], the script should extract laodone
I'd prefer an excel macro but I'm open to all suggestions.
More examples :
bogojean74 AT [login to view URL]
[login to view URL] AT [login to view URL]
julienlao AT [login to view URL]
02karine AT [login to view URL]
dupont_jeanpierrelm AT [login to view URL]
Should give :
jean,bogojean74 AT [login to view URL]

Hi there,
I would do a small java algorithm to extract first names from each email. Extracting data before @ it's easy. For emails with '.' which is the first name - first or second before/after '.' In case it's just a string before @ What should be the rule for extracting the first name?
