This system will work similarly to the auctions on this site:
[login to view URL] (choose an auction and then click enter live auction)
Upcoming events will be displayed on the site.
Each event will be a collection of multiple auctions.
Instead of item photos, each auction will show a single silent looping video of the item which autoplays.
Once an event begins the first auction will start and the timer will begin counting down from 2 minutes.
If a bid is placed at any time within the last 20 seconds, the timer resets back to 20 seconds with each new bid.
Once the timer ends the next auction will appear on the same screen and begin its 2 minute timer.
Each event will have a chatbox where anyone who is watching the auction can join the chat
A feed on the side will show the auction history as far as the bids that were placed, by who, and when.
Auction for (Item Name) Begins 9:00:00
$1.50 - Brett - 9:01:56pm
$2.00 - Rodrigue - 9:02:03Pm
Auction for (Item Name) Closed 9:02:23
Rodrigue Won the (Item Name) for $2.00
Users will be able to create a custom username that shows in this history feed and can edit this username at any time.
Creating a user account is required before bidding.
Users will be able to preview the items in an event before it begins and leave a maximum “left bid” price but the bid will not show on the auction until the auction begins. This is the amount that they will bid up to automatically if someone is bidding against them. For example if they leave a bid for $10 and the bid starts at $1 they would be winning it for $1. If someone else bids $4 their left bid would beat it by $1 and they would win it at $5. Their whole bid is not spent unless there is a competing bid that would require them to bid higher.
The number of people currently on the website will show in the top left of the looping video as an overlay.
When a buyer wins an item it is automatically added to an invoice which is sent at the end of the auction. Shipping will be a flat $4.99 within the United States.
There will be a few subscription membership options where any member can pay $39.99 per month in exchange for free shipping on all auction purchases as well as a $35 credit to spend at the auction (credit expires at the end of each month). Also included is a free gift each month.
We will have other similar membership tiers available. For example $19.99 per month for a $10 credit plus free shipping or $94.99 per month for a $100 credit plus free shipping or $179.99 per month for a $200 credit plus free shipping.
There will be a buyer’s premium feature where it can be adjusted depending on the subscription tier. (This is similar to a tax that the buyer pays. So for example a 20% buyer’s premium means that if someone bids $10 they will actually have to pay $12)
The site will have push notifications and also ask for phone numbers so that users can be texted automatically 15 minutes before an event begins.
On the admin side, new events and auctions can be created. To create an auction it will need to have a title, a video file, and be linked to an event.
There will be a video that plays during the 15-minute countdown before the first auction begins.
The admin can view the list of auctions that are scheduled to be in an event and change the order that they will appear in.
Admins will also be able to insert video advertisements inside of any event by placing it between 2 auctions within the event. Once the video has finished the event will resume displaying the next auction in the sequence.
There will be an option for the admin to add a live one-way audio-only feed into the event where an announcer can speak during the entirety of the event across all of the auctions and advertisements.
Site is responsive and works on mobile.
