I am a TV Commercial Producer looking to streamline some of my work processes. I require a web based app (not iPad or phone at this stage) where I can create storyboards, and use the information from the story boards to develop filming schedules - then PDF these documents to distribute as required.
Below is how I see the workflow working, and some additional notes, as well as a PDF attached showing some screen shot mockups I have done that I can talk through with you.
Launch App on Desktop Browser
Create an Account
User Name / Email
Billing Information (in Future Release)
Start a New Project
Company Name (auto fill from user account or custom entry option)
1st AD Name
Production Manager Name
Share project with other users (who are registered to use the software so they can also access the records, both in view and edit modes depending on permissions given)
Once new Project has been started - the software should automatically generate a blank “Storyboard” and “Shooting Schedule”.
Open the Project’s Story Board
Add images (jpeg or png) into frames or image library. Drag and drop.
Type action and dialogue into storyboard frames (editable text areas)
Add additional information regarding the shot (within side panel - not on the frame itself)
Define what elements you want to see on screen and appear in generated PDF files
Scale, Crop and add Image overlays to images within story board frames
Re-arrange order of frames, delete frames no longer required, and replace images within existing frames as required
Create PDF document to send to clients
Open the Project’s Shoot Schedule
Enter details that are global to the shoot schedule (within the side panel not on the schedule itself)
Manually drag images from the image library (that have been inserted into the story board) onto the schedule.
Auto populate with all shots and associated information (action, dialogue etc) from story boards.
Re-Order Items in Schedule
Assign duration for each frame
Add in setup times, relocate times, meal breaks etc
Duplicate, Share, and Archive
If another version of a story board or schedule is required it should be able to be duplicated.
Share individual elements of a project or the whole project with another user
Once project is complete, archive the project so it doesn’t appear in current projects list.
If shots change within the story board the information should automatically update in the schedule.
If a shot is deleted from the story board it should be removed from the schedule but asking user to confirm first.
Shots can be scheduled that aren’t in the storyboard. On occasion you may want to film something that is not in the approved story boards but still need to allow scheduled time for it.
Should be able to revisit previous versions of story boards and schedules through a history function (similar to google docs history). Files should be constantly saving so no user saving necessary.
You should be able to create a schedule with out images as well if you just wanted to write up the schedule not referencing anything else.
