Write some software that allows a user to copy type a piece of text and analyse user typing performance (time/accuracy/etc.) Job (expanded): Create a piece of software that allows a user to copy type a piece of text (stored in a back end database/spreadsheet that is updateable) under various test conditions (timed/non/free type/stop and correct/etc.) and display typing performance data analysis after completion (time/accuracy/CPM/WPM-S/WPM-A/etc.). The 'text' should be stored in a spreadsheet or database that can be updated, results can be stored here too. The software should be delivered as an easy to upload webpage. The software itself must be able to be: 1) standalone piece of software, 2) part of a website, 3) converted/wrapped to become an app (iOS/android/win10). My aim: I am developing software to help children to learn spell and type. This software should allow children to practice spellings (I will upload texts) through typing (analyse results) but this should work on all platforms, with priorities being 1) standalone application that works on a PC/laptop/tablet/etc., 2) as a webpage, 3) as an app (must work with keypad or phone via Bluetooth/wireless keyboard, etc.) Similar examples: Some examples of similar sites but different settings: 1) [login to view URL] - GOOD: timed tests, start, stop, show speed (WPM), show mistakes (in bold) - NEED: timer, doesn't show position 2) [login to view URL] - GOOD: free type, show speed (WPM and CPM), and highlight mistakes (users can correct or ignore mistakes) - NEED: start/stop button, 3) This test allows users to select from a range of texts and time their typing [login to view URL] - select text, select time, show speed (WPM), show mistakes, offer of leader board - NEED: CPM, I like the way 3 is presented with text above/below. Job (details) Interface Setting 1: - Free type --> results are analysed at the end - Stop and correct --> users are prevented from typing further (sound played) and must correct errors Setting 2: - Timed tests (1, 2, 5 min tests) --> start/stop buttons, timer counts down, at end data is displayed - Free typing tests --> start/stop buttons, timer counts up, upon stop clicked end data is displayed Data displayed: - CPM (characters per minute) --> no. of keystrokes* / time - WPM-S (words per minute-standard) --> no. or five keystrokes / time ** - WPM-A (words per minute-actual) --> no. of words / time * Keystrokes do not include delete **EXAMPLE: 'typed' is 1 word unit; 'type on it' is 2 word units; 'type on it and press A' is 5 word units Backend: - Updateable database/spreadsheet - Ability to easily be converted to 1) website, 2) app (android/iOS/win10) So, in summary, the outcomes: A standalone piece of software that: - allows users to copy type a piece of text (stored in a DB/spreadsheet) - analyse, displays and record typing performance (time/accuracy/etc.) - is delivered as 1) standalone piece of software, 2) software within a webpage (so I can just upload the webpage) Longer term: Please include future bids to: - Convert this to an App (android/iOS/win10) - Add an admin layer, allowing multiple user logins and an admin to view statistics and users. - Launch on Play or iTunes If you need more details I can email mockups Other projects may be on offer too.
